At Save the Girls, our journey has never been just about handbags—it’s about purpose, faith, and solving real-life problems for women everywhere.
We recently had the incredible opportunity to share our story on The Confident Woman Podcast hosted by Rachel Brooks on RSS.com. In this episode, our founders, Tami Lange and Elizabeth Lange, opened up about how Save the Girls went from a simple idea to a fast-growing brand—built in just six weeks.
💡 Where It All Began: A Problem Worth Solving
The idea behind Save the Girls wasn’t born in a boardroom—it came from real-life frustration.
Within one week, two daughters lost their phones. Around the same time, a family member battling breast cancer revealed she had been storing her phone in her bra—the exact area affected.
That moment sparked a realization:
There had to be a better, safer, and more convenient way for women to carry their phones.
🚀 From Idea to Launch in Just 6 Weeks
What happened next still surprises us.
- A rough sketch turned into a real product idea
- 17 factories responded within 24 hours
- A one-way trip to China to develop prototypes
- A full website launch—all within six weeks
No perfect plan. No waiting. Just action.
As Elizabeth shared on the podcast:
“Start before you’re ready.”
📈 Early Challenges & Breakthrough Growth
Like any startup, the beginning wasn’t easy.
- First month sales: just $590
- Pivot to retail stores and wholesale
- 150 stores onboarded before Christmas
- Rapid growth to $20K → $40K → $90K monthly sales
Through creativity (including guerrilla marketing tactics at trade shows), persistence, and faith, momentum built quickly.
🎯 The Power of Thinking Differently
One of our most memorable strategies?
At a major trade show, we used simple but effective guerrilla marketing—sparking curiosity in crowded elevators to drive traffic to our booth. The result? Massive attention and rapid retailer adoption.
Sometimes, growth doesn’t come from big budgets—but from bold ideas.
💖 A Mission Bigger Than Business
From the beginning, Save the Girls has stood for more than just products.
We proudly donate 10% of profits to the American Cancer Society, contributing over $160,000 to cancer research and awareness.
Because for us, success means impact—not just revenue.
🌊 Overcoming Real Challenges
Our journey hasn’t been without setbacks.
One of the most intense moments?
A full shipment container—worth over $150,000—was caught in a tsunami.
By what felt like a miracle, it arrived completely intact.
Moments like these taught us resilience, faith, and mental strength—essential traits for any entrepreneur.
