Some businesses start with a business plan. Others start with a personal mission.
That’s exactly how Save the Girls was born.
In this inspiring episode of Her Story Matters, Melinda Russell sits down with mother-daughter duo Tami and Elizabeth Lange to share the story behind their fast-growing brand, Save the Girls — a company creating stylish touchscreen purses and phone accessories while helping fund breast cancer research.
The idea started nearly nine years ago after two of Tami’s daughters lost their phones in the same week. Around the same time, a family member who often carried her phone in her bra was diagnosed with breast cancer. That moment sparked an idea: create a safer, easier, and more stylish way for women to carry their phones.
That idea quickly turned into Save the Girls.
Their first invention was a touchscreen purse that allows women to text, call, and use their phones without removing them from the bag. Later, the brand launched the wildly popular Clip & Go, a crossbody phone strap designed for women constantly on the move — whether traveling, shopping, attending races, or managing everyday life.
But what truly makes Save the Girls special is its purpose.
From the very beginning, Tami committed to donating a portion of profits to breast cancer research. Today, the company has donated more than $160,000 to the American Cancer Society.
During the podcast, Tami also shared her entrepreneurial journey — leaving behind a 25-year corporate career, traveling overseas alone to meet manufacturers, and building the company from the ground up. Elizabeth later joined the business full-time, turning Save the Girls into a true family-powered brand.
The episode also highlighted the company’s deep connection to motorsports, entrepreneurship, women-owned businesses, and community support. From viral social media growth to Costco appearances and future product launches, the story behind Save the Girls is all about taking risks, solving real problems, and creating something meaningful.
For women balancing busy lifestyles, racing schedules, travel, motherhood, and business, Save the Girls continues to design products that combine convenience, style, and purpose.
You can explore their products at SaveTheGirls and support both women entrepreneurs and breast cancer research at the same time.
